Necklace Lengths:
The standard length for a necklace is 16" unless stated differently in the product description. If you require a different length, please contact us and we will let you know if it is available.
Bracelet Sizes:
Link Bracelets: If your wrist circumference is less than 6", you can wear a link bracelet with a lobster clasp that is 7" or shorter. Some bracelets have toggle clasps that allow adjustment to fit small to large wrists. If your wrist circumference is larger than 6", you would be able to wear link bracelets 7" and longer.
Cuff-style bracelets: Small/medium cuffs fit wrist circumferences 7" and smaller. Medium/large cuffs fit wrist circumferences 7" and larger. If your wrist is exactly 7" we advise choosing the medium/large size.

Ring Sizes:
To determine your ring size, cut a strip of paper that is about 1/2" wide. Wrap the paper snugly around your finger. Mark the paper where it meets. Measure the length of the paper from the end to the mark. Find the length on the chart to the right.
Clasp Styles:
Lobster Clasp: a spring-loaded clasp that opens by pressing a small bar which allows the wearer to insert the ring on the opposite end of a necklace or bracelet.
Toggle Clasp: a "t-bar" attached to one end of a necklace or bracelet that slips into a ring on the opposite end of the item. Toggle clasps are not recommended for wrists smaller than 5".
Materials:
Sterling Silver: "Silver" is rated as sterling, or .925 purity, if it contains 925 parts of pure silver to 75 parts of the various other metals, usually copper, needed to improve its hardness and durability. All of the jewelry on this website that is described as "sterling silver" meets the sterling standard of .925 purity; however, we cannot guarantee that the sterling is nickel-free or hypoallergenic.
Gold Fill: A process which uses heat and pressure to apply a layer of karat gold to a base metal. This produces a surface with karat gold. Gold fill is 50 to 100,000 times thicker than regular gold plating.
Vermeil: Gold overlay on sterling silver. The fineness of the gold plating must not be less than 10 karat and be at least 5 microns thick.
Karat Gold: In the US, no alloy lower than 10 karat can be sold as Ògold.Ó Common alloys are 10 karat gold, with 10 parts gold and 14 parts other metal; 14 karat gold, with 14 parts gold and 10 parts other metal; and 18 karat gold, with 18 parts gold and 6 parts other metal. Gold is typically alloyed with copper, silver and zinc. Pink or rose gold has an increased copper content; white gold contains nickel or palladium.
Freshwater Pearls:
Most of the pearls on this website are "freshwater" pearls, which are different from "saltwater" or "cultured" pearls in that they have a more varied shape. Freshwater pearls are rarely perfectly round; they are more valued for their interesting shapes and sizes.
Earring Styles:
French Wire Hooks: A thin wire shaped like an upside-down "u" which slips through a pierced ear.
Locking French Wire Hooks: A French wire hook which clips securely into a tiny hook on the back of the earring.
Post Back: A straight wire which is inserted through the pierced ear and is secured by a small metal earring back.
